Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu , during a visit to Gaza on Tuesday, reiterated Israel's commitment to bringing all hostages home from the region. In an attempt to secure their release, Netanyahu announced a $5 million reward for anyone who returns a hostage, promising safe passage for those who help in this effort. Speaking to Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip , Netanyahu urged those holding hostages to make the choice to return them, saying, "To those who want to leave this entanglement I say: Whoever brings us a hostage, will find a safe way out for himself and his family.

We will also give $5 million for every hostage." He made it clear that Israel would pursue and punish anyone responsible for harming the hostages. "Whoever dares to harm our hostages – will pay the price.
