Ishaan Khatter has been teasingly demure this summer, giving us fashion loyalists just the right amount to stay hooked. Making a case for dressing up for the female gaze, Khatter’s sartorial endeavours are effortless and outrightly, hot. Through his recent creative imaginings with stylist Alexander Roth, Khatter has been exploring an alternative underpinning to the art of dressing masculine.

From a corset-style vest from Daniel W. Fletcher to a very Matrix -style utilitarian number from Burberry; Khatter is exploring the playbook of looking at once, the unapproachable and mysterious fashion it-boy, even as his soft curls, barely noticeable ear piercing, and charming smile express otherwise. What grabbed our attention, however, wasn’t the usual, fresh off-the-runway, painstakingly sourced and curated high fashion outfit.

But rather, a look that we might just be lucky enough to spot on a casual evening stroll, making us imagine what it would be like going for a matcha date with similar poster boys, basking in the LA golden hour. The barely-there azure satin shorts with side slits and piped detailing from Wales Bonner made taut with Khatter’s strong as-iron muscular legs and calves, contrasted with a pair of flat-platform black Puma speedcat sneakers that look far from new and styled with a white t -shirt. We’re also met with a casual cap and perhaps, prescription sunglasses, a perfect example of off-duty style and a generous tease for the collective imagination of his fan base.

All that’s missing is perhaps a wired pair of earphones and maybe a hand to hold-we will never shy away from volunteering. Khatter seamlessly joins the likes of Vijay Varma , Vedang Raina, Jeremy Allen White and Paul Mescal, climbing his way to internet boyfriend-material. The actor is also validating our collective likeliness towards men who dress with effort and careful thought but still seem approachable and casual when seen in their natural habitats.
