Over the years, Greece has shown a steady upward trajectory, overtaking Spain as the second most popular choice for Finnish tourists. This rising popularity was highlighted at the Matka Travel Fair 2025, held from January 16 to 19 at the Helsinki Finland Exhibition and Convention Center, where Greece’s appeal to Finnish vacationers was evident.

Impact of Matka Travel Fair on Finnish Travel Preferences During the fair, Greece’s tourism sector received an enthusiastic response from visitors, with many expressing their admiration for the country’s culture and gastronomy. This year’s fair saw a notable increase in interest from Finnish visitors seeking information on Greek destinations. The Greek tourism pavilion at the fair spanned 60 square meters and became a hub of activity, drawing large crowds curious about Greece’s offerings.



The presence of Greece’s ambassador to Finland, Natalia Karageorgou, and other prominent diplomats added to the prominence of the pavilion and reinforced the importance of Greek tourism in Finland’s outbound travel sector.
