An Irish Lotto winner has vowed to stay in his day job despite scooping a life-changing prize. The Dubliner, who wants to remain anonymous, won a staggering €6,756,855 million on the Lotto jackpot during the August 17 draw. The man visited Lotto HQ today to collect his winnings, where he shared his lighthearted approach to playing.

He joked: “I know it sounds bad, but I actually don’t usually bother playing until the jackpot gets really high. I’ve always dreamed of winning big, and now here we are.” It wasn't until the following Tuesday after the draw that the winner realised his fortune.



He said: “I saw an email saying I’d won over €100, so I thought, ‘class!’ But when I opened the app, it said I’d won €6.7 million. I was in complete denial until Martin from the Claims Department confirmed it—it was such a surreal moment.

He wasn't the only punter to collect big winnings at the Dublin offices today. A Mayo man, who won €1,005,000 in the EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle on September 20, also picked up his fortune.
