The Slovak capital recently played host to an Irish language travel show, spotlighting the city’s diverse activities and attractions. “Slovakia has beautiful buildings, lovely people, great food..

. and shite mosquitos,” said Séaghan Ó Súilleabháin , better known to his followers as the Kerry Cowboy, after a whirlwind three-day tour of Bratislava. The Irish Instagram and TikTok influencer visited Bratislava, or An Bhratasláiv in Irish, in early July, joined by two other Irish social media personalities, as they filmed “Téacs Taistil” (Travel Text in Gaelic)—a travel show in the Irish language slated to air on Ireland’s TG4 network next year.

The show, presented in Irish, or Gaelic, underscores the language’s cultural significance despite being spoken by just 72,000 people in Ireland. Irish is one of Ireland’s two official languages and holds the status of an official language of the European Union. In each episode of the show, the hosts are tasked with completing an array of challenges and assignments handed down by the producers, all with the goal of immersing themselves in the essence of the cities they explore.

While one host takes on the challenge, the others, equipped with high-end mobile phones and Osmo cameras, document the experience in real-time, curating a steady stream of social media content. Joining Ó Súilleabháin were radio presenter Louise Cantillon and BBC history podcaster Pronsias Ó Coinn , who all share a fluency in the Irish language and a thirst for adventure.
