Tuesday, October 1, 2024 Iran’s tourism sector is set to receive a significant boost with the launch of 167 new projects, backed by an investment of over 100 trillion rials (approximately $166 million). These initiatives, aimed at creating employment opportunities for 2,300 individuals, were reported by CHTN on Monday. The inauguration ceremony, held on Saturday at a newly built hotel in Tehran, was graced by high-ranking officials, including Ali Darabi, the deputy minister of cultural heritage, and Ali-Asghar Shalbafian, the deputy minister of tourism.
The event also attracted private sector representatives, investors, and veterans from the tourism industry, signaling a collaborative push to further expand the country’s tourism infrastructure. Spanning across 31 provinces, the projects include 29 hotels and hotel apartments, 69 guesthouses, 24 traditional restaurants, 16 tourism complexes, and 29 other tourism-related facilities. Together, these projects will add 712,000 square meters of space to Iran’s tourism infrastructure, introducing 1,651 new rooms, 4,445 beds, and 70 guesthouses, providing a much-needed boost to the national tourism sector.
In his speech at the ceremony, Salehi-Amiri emphasized the critical importance of sustained investment in Iran’s tourism industry. He underscored the need for continued collaboration between the government and private sector to ensure the industry’s growth. Currently, 2,700 additional tourism projects are underway nationw.
