New Delhi: Actor Sonam Kapoor’s Mumbai home transcends the concept of a mere residence, serving instead as a deeply personal tribute to India’s rich cultural heritage and a reflection of her own evolving life journey.

The famous Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor recently offered a glimpse into her luxurious Mumbai abode, revealing a breathtaking blend of timeless elegance and modern sophistication. Renowned for her exceptional style, Sonam took a hands-on approach to crafting the interior design of her home, which she shares with her husband Anand Ahuja and their son Vayu. Every corner of the residence reflects her keen eye for detail and her deep appreciation for India’s artistic traditions, making it a truly unique and inspiring space.

In her recent conversation with Architectural Digest, Sonam Kapoor shared that her home is a pure tribute to India’s rich culture and a culmination of treasures and souvenirs she collected from parts of the country. “This home represents a new beginning for me, both as a woman, a collector, and a mother,” Sonam shared, noting, “I’ve yearned for a space where I could showcase the treasures I’ve gathered during my filming journeys across distant parts of India over the years.” She also credited her husband, Anand, for playing a key role in realising this vision, as he supported her desire to create a base closer to their family.

A post shared by Architectural Digest (@archdigest) Originally intended as an investment, the apartment’s high ceilings and spacious design immediately caught Sonam Kapoor’s eye. She saw the potential to turn this blank space into something extraordinary. The result is a richly decorated home full of warmth and personality.

“If I fall in love with something, I’m determined to bring it home. It was Anand who encouraged the move, insisting that with a baby on the way, we should be closer to family. Initially, I had purchased this modern, somewhat impersonal apartment purely as an investment.

However, the more time I spent there, the high ceilings and expansive layout began to win me over. I quietly savoured the thought of transforming this space into something truly spectacular,” she explained. A post shared by Architectural Digest India (@archdigestindia) Sonam Kapoor dropped a few magnificent photographers from her bedroom and living room on Instagram, offering some breathtaking interiors all with a personal touch added to them.

She also stated that her living room is the heart of the home where friends and guests come sit and create memories for a lifetime. Overwhelmed by the modern architecture, she sought to infuse the space with nostalgia, resulting in a layered, hand-painted sanctuary. “Welcome to my living room where I do all the entertaining things like hanging out and where all my friends come.

This is one of my favourite rooms where I ever lived because all my fantasies come to life. The reason I went so Indian and maximalist, I just wanted a lot of layers because this is a very new building. I just got overwhelmed by coming to this very modern building.

I was like, ‘How do I make it nostalgic to who I am,’ and I just went mad. Every wall over here is hand-painted.” In her post, Sonam acknowledges Singh and Jaipur-based fresco artist Vikas Soni for helping turn her vision into reality.

Drawing inspiration from Cher’s bedroom featured in Architectural Digest, she added a grand jharokha as the centrepiece of her bedroom, cleverly hiding the television to maintain an uninterrupted aesthetic..
