Lucy Spraggan bestowed the biggest honour on Simon Cowell as he walked her down the aisle . The former X Factor boss, 64, also made a speech at her wedding to the "love of her life" Emilia Smith. While many fans may be perplexed at Lucy's close bond with Simon, she's spoken fondly about the media mogul and how she knows a "very wholesome version of Simon".
"It's funny because everybody else knows Simon on TV, like I know Simon in a different capacity," she said last month. "I've had many emotional conversations with Simon and he is going to do a speech. And I don't know if it will be emotional because there'll be a room full of other people in there, but yeah, I mean, I know a very good and very wholesome version of Simon.
" Lucy - who is estranged from her biological dad - and Simon were able to build a strong bond over the last four years after he apologised for not supporting her following her harrowing sex attack in 2012 while she was filming The X Factor. Their friendship was able to flourish despite her describing her experience on the ITV show as being like an "abusive relationship" last year. At the time, Lucy, 32, was only 21 years old and was sexually attacked by a hotel porter named Soby John, who used his hotel key card to enter her room after she had passed out drunk after celebrating Rylan Clark's birthday.
But it wasn't until the death of Caroline Flack in 2020, Lucy felt able to speak out about her ordeal. Her attacker was sentenced to 10 years and was deported.
