The band is rumored to play Glastonbury, a UK music festival with a cult and fervent following — not unlike Nevada 's Burning Man festival. This year's Burning Man experienced slow ticket sales which was likely to fears of another weather disaster. Last year's festival was met with catastrophic flooding after heavy rains.

Fans of the Manchester rock band have been eagerly awaiting a reunion since they broke up in 2009 after a backstage fight at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. The band formed in 1991 and rose to fame with hits including Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger and Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

However, the band never gained enough fame to break America and Noel theorized why during an interview with Jill Furmanovsky (per Radio X ). "America, they couldn’t handle the fact that we didn’t give a f--- about anything,” said Gallagher. "I mean, I think that’s the reason we’ve never really had a number one album in America – they wouldn’t go the extra mile for us because we wouldn’t go the extra mile for them.

" Noel also suggested the band had never been nominated for a Grammy Award because they weren't willing to jump through any of the hoops necessary. "That’s why we’ve never been nominated for a Grammy," he added. "You’ve got to do all that stuff over there, you’ve got to kind of fake it a little bit and we just we couldn’t do it which is why we’d always stall at number two.

” The Sunday Times (per the BBC ) spoke with unnamed industry insiders who claimed the brothers were set to perform a string of gigs next year, including shows at London's Wembley Stadium and Manchester's Heaton Park. Wembley may be booked for 10 dates – which, if true, would smash the eight-gig record set by Taylor Swift this year. There is also speculation that a Glastonbury headline slot could be in the works for the band.

Liam spent much of Sunday responding to rumors on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I never did like that word FORMER,” he said, before sharing news articles about the reunion rumours. At his headline Reading Festival set on Sunday evening, he dedicated the Oasis track Half The World Away to his brother, saying to the crowd: "I wanna dedicate this song to Noel Gallagher." Later in the set, he dedicated Cigarettes & Alcohol to people who he said hate the '90s band.

At the end of the show, the same teaser clip showing Tuesday's date appeared on the stage's main screens. It has been 30 years since their chart-topping Definitely Maybe turned the Gallagher brothers into stars in 1994. In 1996, 2.
