As Korean food grows even more popular across Manhattan, the island will host its first-ever Korean street festival, K-Fest. Just ahead of Chuseok, Korean Thanksgiving starting on Monday September 16, K-Fest’s inaugural celebration take place on September 14 from 10 am to 6 pm.

The multi-block celebration will infuse Korea’s culinary and cultural traditions to the streets of Chelsea across 8th Avenue, from 20th Street to 22nd Street. The event is curated by Jee Young Kim, co-owner of the Lower East Side Korean gastropub 8282, and Dan Ahn, partner at Kimbap Lab, in collaboration with the organizers of Dragon Fest , which hosts Chinese street fairs across the city throughotu the year. Dishes to taste throughout the way will include Dry Aged Pork Belly Skewers, Scallion Jeon, Kimchi Fried Rice with Cheese, Fried Mochi Donuts with Hojicha Caramel, and the much-anticipated Legendary Kimchi Cheeseburgers. The festival also offers banchan boxes, sesame mochi, and a range of Korean beverages for attendees to enjoy. In addition to the food, K-Fest will feature live performances from Korean musicians and dance groups.

Dragon Fest typically brings out thousands of people to each event, and K-Fest is expected to be similarly popular. No ticket or cover is required to enter and enjoy the booths and festivities. Vendors will accept Apple Pay, so no cash is necessary either.
