Insiders have claimed that the Material Girl singer wants to spend time with her loved ones after suffering a serious bacterial infection last year that forced her to postpone her Celebration Tour.

A source told The Sun : 'Madonna is living her life to the absolute full and has spent a fortune on this birthday bash to celebrate with her nearest and dearest. 'She had a big scare when she got ill last summer before her Celebration Tour and now wants to embrace every minute. 'As much as it is about herself, this party and trip is about thanking all of her loved ones for their support and bringing them together. It's going to be a big night.' Around 500 A-list guests are expected to attend, possibly including Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom who are already on holiday in the area.

The Italian Minister for Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano is also rumoured to be on the guest list, local media has reported. Although the event is yet to be confirmed by the venue, Italian newspaper La Repubblica quoted the mayor of Pompeii saying 'We are ready to welcome the singer'. And the Queen of Pop's Italian fan club has already posted on Facebook that it is 'preparing' for her arrival.

Just over a year ago, Madonna was rushed to a hospital after being found unresponsive as the result of what was later determined to be a serious bacterial infection. The songstress was taken to the ICU and had to be intubated , and she later revealed that she was put into a medically induced coma as she battled for her life despite going into lung and kidney failure.
