Canadian police on Thursday arrested Rajinder Kumar, 47, in connection with the murder of Khalistan supporter Rabinder Singh Malhi, 52, in Ontario on November 9. Kumar’s wife, Sheetal Verma, 35, was also arrested for obstruction of justice. Police have not revealed the motive but confirmed that Kumar and Malhi knew each other.
Pro-Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun claimed the killing followed heated exchanges between Kumar and Malhi over violent remarks by a Hindu priest. Kumar has been charged with second-degree murder and will appear in court on November 18. Meanwhile, a video of a pro-Khalistan march in Surrey, BC, has sparked outrage, with slogans such as "Canada is Khalistan" and calls for white people to leave.
