Tuesday, August 13, 2024 IndiGo expands its international network, launching new routes and increasing frequencies to Singapore, Kuwait, and Sri Lanka, boosting tourism and connectivity. IndiGo, India’s leading airline, is set to enhance international connectivity by launching new routes and increasing flight frequencies from major commercial and tourist hubs in South and Central India, beginning in October 2024. This strategic move aims to boost travel, catering to the rising demand for business travel, luxury travel and leisure trips during the festive season and holiday travel months.

IndiGo will introduce a daily direct Coimbatore-Singapore flight starting October 27. Additionally, the airline will increase flight frequencies from Chennai to Singapore and Colombo beginning October 15, and from Mumbai to Kuwait starting October 29. These new routes and additional frequencies are designed to provide passengers with more options to explore vibrant economic and tourist hubs in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.



Chennai, often referred to as the ‘Detroit of India,’ is a major center for automobile manufacturing. The city is also known for its classical dance forms, rich cuisine, silk sarees, and stunning temples and churches. With 908 weekly direct flights from Chennai to 48 destinations, the enhanced connectivity is expected to significantly boost both business travel, luxury travel and leisure travel.

With introduction of these flights IndiGo now offers increased connectivity to Singapore (72 flights a week) from 9 cities in India, to Colombo (37 flights a week) from 4 cities in India, and to Kuwait (34 flights a week) from 5 cities in India.

These new routes and additional frequencies foster stronger economic and cultural ties and unlock new avenues for trade, tourism, and collaboration. The new direct flight to Singapore, coupled with 141 weekly flights to 7 destinations, will enhance travel opportunities for both locals and tourists. Mumbai, India’s financial capital, is a bustling metropolis known for its diverse culture, commerce, fashion, and entertainment.

The city’s dynamic skyline, a mix of colonial-era architecture and modern skyscrapers, reflects its vibrant atmosphere. The increased connectivity, with 1,292 weekly flights to 72 destinations, particularly the new route to Kuwait, is expected to attract even more travelers. Singapore, often called the “Lion City” and “Garden City,” offers a unique blend of culture, cuisine, and traditions.

Attractions like Merlion Park, Gardens by the Bay, Universal Studios, and Marina Bay Sands Skypark draw tourists from around the world.
