The Indiana County Democratic Committee will meet Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the Community Room of the Indiana Free Library.
The committee said all Indiana County Democrats who would like to volunteer on Election Day are encouraged to attend. Duties of poll watchers with regard to election protection and getting out the vote on Nov. 5 and other ways to volunteer will be discussed.
The committee said anyone interested in serving as a poll watcher should contact committee Chair Lynne Alvine by email at [email protected] or by text message at (724) 388-6338. Water, coffee and breakfast pastries will be available.
The committee also announced that U.S. Rep.
Ro Khanna, D-Calif., will come to Indiana on Thursday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
to meet with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania College Democrats and other community Democrats in the Blue Room on the IUP campus. Also, the Federation of Democratic Women plan a rally for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz along the 500 and 600 blocks of Philadelphia Street immediately after the committee meeting at 12:15 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 19. Organizers are inviting supporters to join with others to line the main street of Indiana with Harris/Walz placards or homemade signs, and to get passersby to “Honk for our Democracy!” Also, the ICDC announced that a Rally in the Grove, sponsored by the IUP Democrats, will take place at 5:30 p.
m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Oak Grove.
