At the 2024 Vienna International Arts Festival's Voice category, young Indian vocalists took the stage and exhibited their extraordinary singing abilities. This prestigious music competition, held in Vienna, convened gifted performers from all corners of the globe, highlighting the diverse talent present. This exciting event was staged in Vienna and unfolded in two distinct phases. Initially, participants were asked to submit video renditions of their performances, with no limits on their pieces’ length. The next competition segment unfolded in Vienna itself, filling the city with melodious tunes between August 5th and 10th, 2024.



Indian Students Shine At Vienna International Arts Festival The competition wrapped up with a grand finale concert at Vienna’s Ehrbar Hall on 10th August 2024. There, young Indian participants shone conspicuously, clinching a total of two silvers and two bronzes across varied categories and age brackets. Ira Shinde and Vanshi Mudaliar have brilliantly bagged the silver medal in the Voice category for the age group of 10-14, showcasing their talent triumphantly.

Alabhya Kamble managed to grab the third spot in the same category, while Pratibha Kadu clinched third in the age bracket of 15 to 19 years. Their training came directly from Rahel Shekatkar, the owner of Raheloveena music academy, who successfully moulded them into champions. The competition had a variety of categories, such as Piano, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Chamber Music, and Individual Vocals.

In every division, participants had distinct musical pieces from different periods, like Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern, to showcase their skills. The competition was open to musicians from all walks of life and prescribed specific performance durations as detailed on their website. – Age Group A (6-9 years): 3-5 minutes – Age Group B (10-14 years): 5-8 minutes – Age Group C (15-19 years): 8-15 minutes – Age Group D (20-27 years): 15-25 minutes – Age Group A (6-9 years): 4-5 minutes – Age Group B (10-14 years): 5-8 minutes – Age Group C (15-19 years): 9-11 minutes – Age Group D (20-27 years): 12-16 minutes The panel was graced with seasoned artists and teachers.

Their role was not only to evaluate each performance but also to make the hard choice of selecting the pieces that would take the spotlight. The assessments of performers were conducted based on several aspects such as the overall musical influence, adherence to the original musical sheet, technical proficiency, and the performer’s charisma and zeal. Grades were distributed on a scale from 1 to 100, and depending on their scores, participants were honoured with certificates, medals, and accolades.
