Friday, November 29, 2024 In a continued effort to strengthen tourism ties between Victoria and India, the Allan Labor Government is rolling out the red carpet for a delegation of Indian tourism and business leaders. This follows the Premier’s recent visit to India in September and aims to showcase Victoria’s diverse and vibrant tourism offerings to some of the country’s most influential decision-makers. Announced today by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos, Visit Victoria will lead the delegation of 30 Indian tourism and business leaders on a tour across the state.

The initiative is designed to place Victoria at the forefront of their minds when planning travel itineraries and conferences for clients in India. The delegation’s tour, running from 2 to 9 December, will highlight the incredible diversity, creativity, and passion that Victoria has to offer. This experience will help Indian leaders see firsthand why Victoria is rapidly becoming a top destination for international visitors.

India is already Victoria’s second-largest market for international tourism expenditure. In the year ending June 2024, over 187,000 Indian visitors traveled to the state, spending more than $480 million. The Indian community has a significant presence in Victoria, with nearly 260,000 Indian-born residents and more than 370,000 people of Indian ancestry calling the state home.

The tour will be an opportunity to demonstrate the state’s broad appeal, from Mel.
