Headlined by Kamal Haasan and helmed by Shankar, Indian 2 was released in the theatres on Friday, July 12. A direct sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian, the vigilante action thriller also stars Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar among others. Produced by Lyca Productions, the Tamil film Indian 2 has also been released in Hindi and Telugu dubbed versions as Hindustani 2 and Bharateeyudu 2 respectively.

The Kamal Haasan-starrer film saw a good opening of Rs 25.6 crore net in India with the majority of its earnings coming from Tamil version - Rs 16.5 crore, the Telugu version collected Rs 7.



9 crore, and the film had a poor performance in the Hindi belt where it managed to earn just Rs 1.2 crore. On its second day, as per the early estimates from the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk, the Tamil version maintained its hold as it minted Rs 13 crore, the Hindi version saw a slight increase with collection of Rs 1.

2 crore, but the Telugu version saw a sharp decline as it just earned Rs 2.5 crore. Overall, Indian 2 earned Rs 16.

7 crore on its first Saturday with a total drop of 34.77%. Thus, the Shankar film has earned Rs 42.

30 crore in its first two days Talking about the 1996 release Indian, it starred Kamal Haasan in a dual role and two Bollywood actresses Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar as the leading ladies. The film won three National Awards including one for Kamal himself for the Best Actor. It was sent.
