Indian Railways is preparing to introduce a new Vande Bharat Sleeper variant in January 2025, following the widespread success of the Vande Bharat Express, which revolutionized train travel in India. This sleeper version is designed for longer routes and overnight journeys.
The train is being manufactured by BEML, with a prototype revealed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in September 2024. Jammu and Kashmir is also set to benefit from this new development, as a proposal is in the works to launch the Vande Bharat Sleeper between New Delhi and Srinagar. This service will be maintained and operated by the Northern Railway zone.
