Saturday, August 10, 2024 India has introduced a visa-on-arrival facility for UAE nationals, announced by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, during a Lok Sabha session on August 5. This facility is available for tourism, business, conferences, and medical purposes, permitting visitors to stay in India for up to 60 days with the option of double entry. The visa-on-arrival service is accessible at six designated airports across India, simplifying the travel process and enhancing convenience for visitors.
Additionally, the Ministry has broadened the e-visa facility, granting Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to nationals from 167 countries. This e-visa allows entry through 30 designated international airports and six major seaports, significantly easing the process for international travelers. The Ministry of Tourism regularly conducts tourism surveys, research, and feasibility studies to shape policy and assess program effectiveness.
These studies provide valuable data to identify areas for improvement and ensure that tourism policies meet their intended goals. To improve tourist safety and offer immediate assistance, 15 State Governments and Union Territory (UT) Administrations have deployed tourist police. Additionally, the Ministry has set up a 24×7 Multi-Lingual Tourist Info-Helpline, available toll-free at 1800111363 or short code 1363, offering guidance in 12 languages, including 10 international ones.
