Pune: The ministry of information and broadcasting is considering developing a unified marketplace for content creators to showcase their talent, said I&B special secretary Neerja Shekhar. The platform will be developed based on the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) and is aimed to provide uniform opportunities to content creators, irrespective of their craft. "I am talking about growth, promotion and distribution of content.
It is essential in various segments, including documentary, podcast, reel, comics and VFX. We realised each kind of content needs to have a marketplace and something needs to be done about it," she said at a roadshow organised by the Indian Digital Gaming Society and the Confederation of Indian Industries on Wednesday. There are various sub-segments within media and entertainment, especially in creative content creation.
These are niche and need its own space to develop. For example, radio is different from television and there are various individual branches under the media umbrella, such as advertising, films and comics, she added. The roadshow aimed to increase participation of Pune artists and techies in WAVES, which will be held in New Delhi between Feb 5 and 9.
The summit revolves around four sub-segments, including broadcast and infotainment, AVGC-XR, digital media and innovations and films. The AVGC-XR includes animation, visual effects, gaming and e-sports, comics, virtual reality and metaverse. Digital media includes social me.
