Brown Thomas have officially opened their iconic Christmas shop. Yes, really. The department shop’s Christmas department is a regular feature of the season, and with 132 days until Christmas (but who’s counting?), Brown Thomas opened up their 2024 Christmas shop on Thursday, August 15 — with 350 seasonal employees are being hired to join the group of seven stores for the festive period.

The Christmas Shop is now open in Dublin, Cork, and Limerick stores, as well as on BrownThomas.com , featuring a wonderful selection of decorations, stunning Christmas trees, and an impressive array of lights, stockings, wreaths, crackers, and garlands. ‘Every year, we witness an enthusiastic response from our customers as soon as we open, many embrace the opportunity to have first pick especially where collections are limited,’ Roslyn Ellis, Brown Thomas/Arnotts Living Buyer, said.

‘We are delighted to introduce this year’s Christmas Shop at Brown Thomas. Our shop is celebrated for its extensive range of exquisite and unique decorations, and we are particularly excited about our new collections and the contrast in themes available. There is something for everyone, whether your preference is traditional, contemporary, or novelty.

’ The decorations are curated into a variety of new Christmas themes that are all about making your home look and feel amazing this season — ranging from cozy vibes, sophisticated looks, or a bit of winter magic, with Brown Thomas saying that they have something that’ll fit your style perfectly. ‘A Forest Tale’ transports you to a place where the spirit of Christmas thrives. This theme revives the traditional red, green, and gold palette with touches of pomegranate, adding warmth and charm through brown or rust tones, woodland creatures, and novelty food-inspired decorations that make this theme feel both homey and fresh.

‘Festive Navy’ has sparkling silver and gold ornaments pop against deep navy or a Bridgerton-inspired blue to create a winter wonderland. And don’t miss this Christmas’s must-have decoration: the bow. It adds just the right amount of sophistication to your tree and makes your space feel chic and refined.

‘Ice Castle’ evokes a magnificent palace made of glistening ice, a frozen wonderland where sparkling lights create a mesmerising glow. The theme features white, silver, and soft blush colours, brought to life by layering various bauble shapes with glistening finishes and adding magical decorations like fairies or arctic animals. This theme truly stands out for its beauty and elegance.

A Forest Tale, Festive Navy and Ice Castle are all available at Brown Thomas Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and on BrownThomas.com, with ‘Natural Nordic’ being exclusive to Brown Thomas Dublin. ‘Natural Nordic’ allows nature to take centre stage.

This theme evokes feelings of harmony, tranquillity, and simplicity through nature-inspired decorations and warm candlelight. A fresh palette of green, white, silver, and touches of black celebrates nature’s elegance. This year’s exciting launch also includes several new collections, including the Jellycat Christmas Collection, which lands in late September, Luxury Garlands which introduces large, oversized velvet bow decorations in various colours that fit any theme, and My First Christmas, which offers delicate ornaments, soft pastel colours, and personalised keepsakes to celebrate the joy and wonder of a baby’s first Christmas.

‘We have over 800 tree decorations, with prices starting from €4, and decorative pieces from €20—ideal for creating a festive ambience and becoming cherished family treasures to announce Christmas each year,’ Ms Ellis said. ‘Among our truly stand-out and very limited pieces is the moving, lighting, and musical Marquee Carousel, available soon in-store. Other highlights include the moving and musical Christmas Village scene and the Music Box World Gramophone decoration, complete with disks to select and play Christmas tunes, perfect for getting in the mood to dress the tree or listening to at Christmas dinner.

‘Velvet ribbons and bows were a customer favourite last year, and this year, the bow is even more prominent as a key trend piece. We are thrilled to introduce ‘Luxury Garland’ bows alongside the return of the Irish brand, Aspen Bows.’ The Brown Thomas Christmas Shop is now open at the Grafton Street, Cork, and Limerick stores, and on BrownThomas.
