Pune: The Mahalunge MIDC police on Sunday registered a case against an unknown caller for demanding money from a plastics company owner posing as Khed Alandi constituency MLA Dilip Mohite . Mohite's relative lodged a complaint against the unknown caller with the Pimpri Chinchwad police on Saturday. A case against the caller was registered under Sections 204 (personating a public servant), 319 ( cheating by personation ), and 62 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment of life and other imprisonment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
An officer from the Mahalunge MIDC police said the caller contacted the owner of the company located in Ambethan on Saturday afternoon. "The caller sought help from the company owner by claiming that he was in need," the officer said. The owner became suspicious and contacted Mohite's office, when he found out that someone else had posed as the MLA.
"After receiving the complaint, we are trying to get the details of the caller," he said. Mohite, who is with the National Congress Party led by Ajit Pawar, is contesting the Nov 20 assembly elections from Khed Alandi constituency..
