Who among the batch of younger singers today does Imelda Papin admire and listen to? For the indefatigable Sentimental Songstress, the ones that come to mind are Regine Velasquez and Sarah Geronimo . Imelda guested on Friday's " Fast Talk with Boy Abunda ," where she was asked by Tito Boy which of the younger singers have caught her eye. "To be honest, one is Regine.

Alam mo ba, si Regine, taga-hanga ko pala, during [her] first year anniversary, ako ang sinurpise sa kaniya," she shared. The singer and public servant also narrated that Regine, who hails from Bulacan, would watch her shows whenever she would perform in the province back in the day. "Pag nasa Bulacan ako, si daddy niya at tsaka siya, takbo sila at para manood sa akin.

So, I love her and talagang hindi niya nakakalimutan na idol niya ako and I thank her so much," she said. Imelda also named Sarah as another younger singer she admires. "Of course, Sarah is doing very well," she said of the Pop Star Princess.

"Maraming magagaling, actually lahat sila magagaling. They're all good, talagang fantastic singers. Kaniya kaniya tayong mga style, congratulations to all of you, all of us," she added.

Imelda, whose contributions to Original Pilipino Music have earned her the titles "Sentimental Songstress" and "Jukebox Queen," is known for the hit songs "Bakit? (Kung Liligaya Ka sa Piling ng Iba)," "Taksil," and "Isang Linggong Pag-ibig," among many others. Imelda's contemporaries include Claire dela Fuente and Eva Eugenio. The two were also dubbed " Jukebox Queens " in the '80s alongside Imelda, with the three singers enjoying a healthy rivalry during the heyday of their careers.

Ten years ago, in 2014, Imelda, Claire, and Eva performed together in a concert for the first time to give tribute to their most ardent of fans. — CDC, GMA Integrated News.
