A man was strangled and attacked with a “big black metal stick” at his office in Bolton on Wednesday. Amirhossein Moazzami, 39, who lives in Bury, was assaulted at an office on Tonge Moor Road at around 5pm before being treated at Royal Bolton Hospital for his injuries. Mr Moazzami says he is traumatised after the incident and now sleeps with a knife by his bed for self-defence.

He said: “I thought I was going to die. “Me and my partner were sitting in the office, and somebody came in with a big black metal stick and closed the door. “He started to hit us with the stick, and then he put his weight on my chest.

“I have the mark of his hand on my neck and marks on my body from when he hit me with the metal thing. “I pushed him away and ran out of the office and into my car, then he hit my car with the stick and broke my headlight.” Mr Moazzami says the man then fled the scene in a car.

He is calling on Greater Manchester Police for more support, he said: “I’ve called the police more than 20 times and nobody has come to see me. “They said they get loads of cases like that. “But it’s a major case, I’m worried the guy will come again and kill me.

“Somebody wants to kill me and the police just apologise, shame on them.” A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We have received reports of an assault and threatening behaviour on Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, on October 23. “Officers are currently investigating the incident, with initial enquiries.
