A travel expert has revealed a hack 'so good it feels illegal to know' that could slash the price of your next holiday. With cash-strapped Brits still struggling amid the cost-of-living crisis, jetting off for two weeks in the sun is a luxury many of us can no longer afford. Yes, staycations can bring the price down, but the unpredictable weather and sewage-ridden seas means most of us are wanting to get out of the UK for a while.

Luckily, globetrotter Anna, who has built up an impressive 97,000 followers on TikTok, has shared her 'best' travel hack that she says has saved her thousands of pounds far. "I don't care how long it's been.

Instead of booking accommodation through a third party site, Anna simply contacts previous hots to see if they have any holiday lets in the destination she's planning to visit. She claims, if you offer to pay in cash, many owners will offer a substantial discount for booking directly - especially if you're travelling 'off season' or looking for a last-minute deal.

"This has never not worked for me," Anna added. "I think I've saved $500 (around £390) just this month." Almost a thousand viewers rushed to the comment section to express their thoughts, with many branding the hack 'genius'.

"I'm an Airbnb host and she is absolutely correct," raved one user. Another agreed, commenting: "My mum owns an Airbnb and she much prefers booking past customers like this! Saves everyone money and trouble and makes for loyal relations." A third added: "This is great.

" However, sceptics were quick to point out that booking directly with an owner means you lose protection provided by sites such as Airbnb such as free cancellation and refunds. "It's a risk to book an Airbnb 'off the books' like this," one user warned. "You lose benefits and securities that, like, keep you safe.

" Another agreed, commenting: "As an Airbnb host, the issue is I want that Airbnb insurance to cover any messes or damage y'all might make!" While a third branded the hack 'sketchy'. Got a story to share? Email liam.gilliver@reachplc.
