You don't have to be young to be beautiful, and one woman is proving it in abundance. Dr Nina Cash, 57, from California, may have modelled when she was younger, but it's in her 50s she's fallen into her stride. The stunner was named one of seven winners who were featured in the 60th Anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated in May 2024, and she's often seen strutting her stuff to promote body positivity on the catwalk.

Even though she pursued modelling after high school, she eventually stepped away from the industry to focus on raising her daughter as a single parent. This led the mum to a career in higher education, specifically in the field of continuing education and adult learning. Nina earned her undergraduate degree in Human Services, followed by a graduate degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding.

Eventually, she pursued a doctorate in educational leadership, which was driven by a passion for fostering learning and growth in individuals and communities. But, after she retired in 2022, Nina felt "drawn" to re-visiting modelling. Towards the end of that year, she took a chance and submitted an application to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Search, and it paid off.

Now she's making her mark as a model, and she won't let her age, or what anyone has to say about it, get in her way. She's fit at fifty and ferociously fabulous. Nina told us: "It's crucial that women of all ages are represented in magazines and beauty campaigns.

Diversity in representation not only reflects the reality of women's experiences, but also promotes inclusivity and empowerment. "By showcasing women of different ages, backgrounds and body types, we challenge narrow beauty standards and celebrate the beauty and value of every individual. It's essential for women to see themselves represented in media and advertising, as it promotes self-acceptance, confidence and a sense of belonging.

"Additionally, it sends a powerful message that beauty is diverse and timeless, transcending age and other societal constructs." Perhaps what helps Nina look so amazing is that she works hard to stay in shape. This is very important to the mum, as she has Type 2 Diabetes, so she does her best to prioritise her health and well-being through a combination of exercise, balanced nutrition and self-care.

She likes staying active by walking, riding her Peloton and dancing, as they're good for both her physical fitness and mental health. For Nina, it's also crucial to eat breakfast every morning, and to prioritise getting enough rest. As she's grown older, Nina has also been comfortable with embracing all the change that comes with the passing years, such as her grey hair.

She said: "Embracing my grey hair has been easy. I approach getting older with gratitude and a positive mindset. "I see each year as an opportunity for growth, wisdom and new experiences.

Ageing is a natural part of life, and I choose to focus on the blessings and opportunities that come with it rather than dwelling on any perceived drawbacks. "I prioritise self-care, staying active and nurturing my passions, which helps me feel vibrant and confident at every age. Ultimately, I believe that beauty and vitality are not defined by age, but by how we embrace and celebrate the journey of life.

"To any women struggling with body confidence, I want you to know that you are not alone in your journey. It's okay to have moments of doubt or insecurity, but try to be kind to yourself, and focus on the things you love about your body and yourself as a whole. "Remember that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and ages, and there is no one definition of what it means to be beautiful.

Surround yourself with positive influences and supportive people who lift you up and remind you of your worth. You are unique, valuable and deserving of love and respect exactly as you are.".
