Ilona Maher is taking the criticism she received during the Olympics and turning it around on its head, and she’s crediting her Dancing With the Stars partner with her ability to feel more feminine. The rugby player is the first from her sport to compete on the ABC competition series, and her popularity during the Summer Games has her pegged early on as a favorite from the cast–with one pro dancer calling her a “threat.” The Olympic bronze medalist also made some tear up with her first performance on the show, a Cha Cha which scored 18 points from the judges.

After someone commented on one of her TikTok videos that they thought she had a 30% BMI, she filmed a video in response. “Hi, thank you for this comment. I think you were trying to roast me, but this is actually a fact.

I do have a BMI of 30.Well, 29.3 to be exact,” she said at the time.

“BMI doesn’t tell you what I can do. It doesn’t tell you what I can do on the field,” she added. “How fit I am.

It;s just a couple of numbers put together. It doesn’t tell you how much muscle I have, or anything like that. So yeah, I do have a BMI of 30.
