' The first day of IIFA was all about celebrating the Southern film industry. Among the big nominations, Mani Ratnam's movie Ponniyin Selvan II starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and many others remained ruled with 13 nominations. And of course, the film won in major category making it to the headlines in entertainment news .
Stars like AR Rahman, Chiranjeevi, Samatha Ruth Prabhu, Rishab Shetty and many more also received awards for their contribution to South cinema. Best Picture Award was won by Rajinikanth's action-packed thriller Jailer.
