Friday, July 12, 2024 IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) is set to expand its presence in Spain significantly. With the recent signing of four new properties, adding over 500 rooms across key markets, IHG continues to demonstrate its commitment to growth in one of Europe’s priority markets. The latest agreements reflect the strong owner and guest demand for IHG’s diverse brand portfolio, including Luxury and Lifestyle (Hotel Indigo), Premium (voco hotels), and Essentials (Holiday Inn Express) collections.

Mrs. Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed her excitement about the expansion: “We are thrilled to expand our presence in Spain with these four outstanding properties in key tourist and business destinations across the country. The addition of over 500 rooms in Spain, alongside the recently announced 1,000 rooms in Portugal, will contribute a 10% increase in our room count across Iberia, emphasizing our commitment to growth in the region.



” The continued growth in the Spanish market underscores the strong demand from owners and investors for IHG’s diverse brand portfolio. IHG is known for delivering unique experiences and high-quality service to guests, and this expansion reflects the company’s dedication to excellence and true hospitality. Hotel Indigo in Jerez de la Frontera voco Granada Holiday Inn Express Seville – City Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sabadell IHG currently operates 55 hotels under eight brands in Spain, including Six Senses, InterContinental, Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, and Holiday Inn.

Over the past five years, IHG has opened more than ten hotels in Spain, including notable properties such as Kimpton Vividora, InterContinental Barcelona, Six Senses Ibiza, and voco Madrid – Retiro. The company has a robust pipeline of 12 properties, including Staybridge Suites Malaga, set to open later this year and marking the brand’s debut in Spain. In 2022, IHG signed a long-term commercial agreement with Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, making it IHG’s 18th brand.

This partnership significantly boosts IHG’s footprint in resort and all-inclusive hotels, a high-growth market segment with clear demand from guests and IHG One Rewards members. Up to 70 hotels (24.3k rooms) join IHG’s system under the Iberostar Beachfront Resorts brand, offering memorable stays in award-winning hotels.

These include family-friendly premium offerings and adult-only luxury in leading resort destinations such as Iberostar Grand Paraiso (Riviera Maya, Mexico), Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus (Bayahibe, Dominican Republic), Iberostar Grand Rose Hall (Montego Bay, Jamaica), and Iberostar Selection Anthelia (Tenerife, Spain). IHG Hotels & Resorts is accelerating its presence in Spain with four new signings, adding over 500 rooms across key markets. This expansion highlights the strong demand for IHG’s diverse brand portfolio and the company’s commitment to delivering unique experiences and high-quality service to guests.
