The Idaho Department of Education announced last week it is partnering with PragerU, a nonprofit conservative advocacy and media group, to provide resources to K-12 schools, according to a department press release. PragerU was founded by conservative talk show host Dennis Prager and screenwriter/producer Allen Estrin in 2009. According to its website it seeks to “promote American values.
” “The left claims kids don’t need patriotic education. Instead, they are teaching critical race theory, gender fluidity, and that math is racist,” a petition page on PragerU’s website states. “Offering Idaho districts and charters supplementary options that work in their classrooms means making a variety of resources available for use and is work we have engaged in for nearly two years,” Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield stated in the state release.
“Local boards choose educational materials that are right for their schools and communities and this option from PragerU Kids is another way for school leaders to make informed decisions as they seek ways to best support student learning.” Idaho Education News interviewed Critchfield , who said PragerU content would not be in classrooms immediately, and “not every school district will find a place for this in their classrooms. That’s OK.
” PragerU has partnered with other states for K-12 education content including South Carolina, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, New Hampshire, Arizona and Lou.
