Aaditya Thackeray (File photo) NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has said anyone who threatens the workers of his party during the ongoing election campaign will be “made to sleep on ice slab”, sparking a war of words with rival Sena leader Ramdas Kadam . Speaking in Dapoli in coastal Maharashtra on Thursday, he dubbed as “traitors” Kadam and his son, and local MLA Yogesh Kadam, who belong to the Shiv Sena led by chief minister Eknath Shinde . Thackeray, a former state minister, was speaking at a poll campaign rally.

“It is my responsibiity to make anyone who threatens you (Sena UBT workers) sleep on ice slab because we are forming the next government,” he said. The statement, referencing a form of torture, drew immediate criticism from Ramdas Kadam, who called Thackeray a "traitor." Kadam claimed Thackeray sidelined his son, Dapoli MLA Yogesh Kadam, during municipal council polls despite a prior friendship.

"It was Aaditya Thackeray who was a traitor as he took away his ministry," Ramdas Kadam said, referring to Aaditya Thackeray holding the environment portfolio in the previous government, a position Ramdas Kadam held under the prior administration. The Kadams joined the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena following the party split in 2022. Thackeray, a former state minister, is campaigning for the upcoming November 20 assembly elections .
