Thursday, October 3, 2024 British Paralympian and six-time London Wheelchair Marathon champion, who also serves as a crossbench peer in the House of Lords, has been announced as the opening keynote speaker at the globally renowned trade show, IBTM World. With a focus on championing social responsibility within the events industry, she will kick off the Main Stage on the first day of the event, taking place at Fira Barcelona from November 19 to 21. Recognized as one of the most accomplished and inspirational athletes of her era, Tanni has competed in five Paralympic Games, earning 11 gold medals, four silver medals, and one bronze.
She was honored with the title of ‘Dame’ in 2005 for her contribution to sports, and in 2010, she was appointed to the House of Lords as a crossbench peer. In this role, she has passionately advocated for issues related to sports, disability, health, welfare, and youth development, playing a pivotal role in debates around welfare reform, assisted dying, and sports governance.
