I didn’t have bad experiences, but I would drink enough so that I would ruin my next day,” he said in an interview with Men's Health magazine. Holland started his sobriety journey with small steps After getting an annual liver check-up, Holland said he realized that he often craved alcohol at social events and found his first month of sobriety to be quite difficult. However, he started small.

Holland said every month was a new milestone as he managed to find ways to better manage stressful situations, like navigating tense disagreements. Slowly, he has now reached a milestone after three years of being sober. “My problem was that I would have one drink and be fine, and then I would just go too far,” he said.
