The dream of basking in the sun with a cocktail in hand has turned into a soggy nightmare for holidaymakers heading to Turkey . TikTok user marmarislovers has revealed that Marmaris, usually a sun-seeker's paradise, has been battered by rain and storms, leaving Brits disappointed as they swap their swimwear for umbrellas. In a widely shared video, the content creator said: "Heavy rain and thunder for two days coming then three days nice weather, and another three days of storm Marmaris.

" The footage shows relentless downpours drenching the resort, which is typically known for its balmy weather. Further posts from the account show scenes of a storm at Dalaman Airport, very quiet streets in Marmaris and unusually quiet hotels and bars. They even suggested that "winter season has arrived early" given the dismal conditions, catching many off-guard as September is often considered an ideal month for a Turkish getaway.

Travel buffs usually recommend visiting Marmaris between June and September to catch the best of the sun, with July famously hitting sizzling highs of 35C. However, this year's tourists have had to rethink their sunny plans, as the weather seems to have taken an unexpected turn. September is usually a scorcher with average high temperatures hitting the 32C mark.

Even the night-time lows are predicted to hover around a warm 22C. The video showing the unexpected weather has now racked up more than 2,000 views, leaving viewers gobsmacked. Normally, Brits basking in Turkish resorts don't expect such stormy scenes disrupting their sunny holidays.

One holidaymaker expressed relief, commenting: "Thank god I'm arriving on the 26th September. Better not rain whilst I'm there." Another shared their stormy experience, adding: "Fethiye same.

Thunder, lightning and torrential rain." Meanwhile, a third chimed in with realism: "It's always a risk at the end of summer." Others recounted more favourable conditions in different parts of Turkey, with one stating: "We only had one evening of this torrential rain.

" Some tourists seemed unfazed by the downpours, as one said: "Am here now. Rained one day. Now el schorchio.

" Meanwhile, another appeared to embrace the dramatic climate, adding: "Love it when it pours with rain in Marmaris.".
