Mykonos is a beautiful island with a vibrant night life If Ibiza is the party capital of Spain, Mykonos is Greece's equivalent – just less crowded and hectic, and with a more chilled vibe. Mykonos, an island in the Cyclades group in the Aegean Sea, is famed for its vibrant summer party scene. Beaches are lined with bars playing pulsating music, while clubs stay open until the early hours of the morning.

Remember to keep your eyes peeled for frequent celeb visitors who've popped in from their superyachts anchored in the bay. Beyond the nightlife, Mykonos offers stunning beaches, quintessential white buildings and beautiful hotels. Little Venice on Mykonos island Overlooking a sheltered bay and harbour is Mykonos Town, known locally as the Chora.

It's a beautiful setting for this typical Greek island settlement, with its white buildings and narrow, winding streets dotted with splashes of colour from tropical plants. Here you'll find all manner of boutiques and independent shops, as well as the standard tourist outlets. There are also numerous small churches – more than 1,200 can be found on the island – many of which are open to the public and are adorned with dozens of fascinating icons and statues.

Stroll down towards the bay and you'll find yourself in the delightful 'Little Venice' area. Just to the south of this is one of the island's most iconic landmarks – a row of seven towering windmills which date from the 16th century. They were built by the Venetians and used to mill wheat, and now provide the perfect backdrop for photos, especially at sunset.
