As someone who used to simply grab the cheapest bottle from the supermarket shelves without thinking, I like to think my taste has improved in recent years. This is why it's really exciting when a new one comes along, as it could end up being your new favourite choice.
So when I heard the news that Andrew Peace wines had launched in for the first time, I was immediately keen to give them a try. Hailing from a vineyard in Victoria, Australia, this award-winning brand is a hugely popular one with plenty of glowing reviews. These two wines - a Chardonnay and a Shiraz - are currently priced at £6.
50 each in Tesco, which right away sounded extremely reasonable. But would they hold up in a taste test? So I decided to give them both a try, beginning with the Andrew Peace Masterpeace Chardonnay one Friday after a particularly busy day. Being honest, I'd never usually choose a Chardonnay, with my white wine preference usually being a Pinot Grigio.
But immediately I was impressed by the bottle, which has a luxe-looking label emblazoned with the Andrew Peace logo in gold tones. And even with the first sip, I knew that this was a good one. Unlike a lot of white wines I'd tried, it didn't taste acidic at all - instead, I was met with citrus tastes and even a hint of tropical fruits, the flavours of which were very light and enjoyable.
It went down so smoothly and didn't leave that unpleasant.
