I've always considered lobster a luxury food, so imagine my surprise when I discovered it's now available at your local Iceland store. Not that I'm dismissing Iceland - it's been a stalwart of the frozen food industry since the 70s, but it's not the first place that comes to mind for lobster. My sister-in-law quickly corrected me, praising Iceland's reputation for its frozen fish.

And it makes sense - we're constantly told that freezing is a great way to preserve nutrients and freshness. So, I decided to put it to the test and try the lobster for myself. Priced at £9, Iceland's Luxury Canadian Whole Cooked Lobster comes frozen and needs to be defrosted in the fridge.

I know what a lobster looks like, but I must admit, I was a bit taken aback when I took it out of the box. It was a whole lobster - claws, antenna, tail, beady eyes and all. Its bright red exoskeleton was quite intimidating, reports the Mirror .

This probably says more about my lack of experience than anything else - I've never prepared a lobster before, only seen it done on MasterChef. Thankfully, Iceland has anticipated this potential issue and provides a step-by-step guide with pictures on the box. So, once you get over the initial shock, it's actually quite straightforward.

Preparing a lobster may seem daunting if it's your first time, but once you've removed the meat, you're left with tender, flavoursome flesh ready to enjoy. A drizzle of melted butter is all it needs to be perfect. Serving fresh lobster co.
