She graduated from the University of Basel, completing her law studies in German, a language she has no mastery with. In her graduation ceremony Lakshmi decided to flaunt her Indian roots and take pride in her culture and clothing by wearing lehenga at the ceremony.

Her choice of showcasing her Indian heritage has taken the internet by storm and everyone seems to love her boldness. Lakshmi mentioned in an interview about her diligent efforts to get her lehenga delivered at the right time to Switzerland, that is just before her graduation ceremony “As I struggled with the language, since it’s not my native tongue, I felt an immense sense of pride after completing my bachelor’s degree,” Lakshmi shared. “I told myself that if I could achieve this in a language I’m not fluent in, I deserved to wear something special to celebrate.” Lakshmi, who has both Indian and Finnish heritage, explained her choice to wear a lehenga.
