I'd always been a bit nervous about the idea of parking at Manchester Airport. There's always someone quick to give you a horror story, but quite often it's when they've used an outside firm with no affiliation to the place. Let's face it, making your own way there and having your car waiting for you on your return is the most appealing option, especially if you're quite a distance away with a taxi ride you're only alternative.

That's why I decided to give the T1/T3 Mid-Stay Car Park a try on our recent trip. Read more: My £1.60 Tesco buy delayed our trip through Manchester Airport, it's going in the bin It was so easy to find and was just a few minutes' walk from Terminal 3 where we were heading.

If you're going from Terminal 1, it's just a 10-minute walk from there too. And there are two multi-storeys at Terminal 2, both of which can be booked for a mid-length stay, from a few days up to a week. We parked at the Mid-Stay Car Park for T1 and T3 (Image: Manchester Family / MEN) It was busy when we arrived not long after 8am, but it didn't take too long for us to find a space and park up on the ground floor.

There were more spaces available on the next level too. From leaving the car park at 8.17am, little more than 30 minutes later we were already checked in, through security and enjoying some breakfast .

You can pay a little extra for the Meet and Greet car park, but this option suited us fine and I was reassured by the fact nobody would need to touch our car while we were away. Costing from £79.99 for eight days, ours was more because we booked at short notice, but it still didn't work out much more than a taxi would have been.

I wish I'd known that it's cheaper the further in advance you book however, as that would have saved us some cash.
