Mindfulness is great to participate in, but it can be tough to know where to start, not to mention figure out what works for you. Growing up, I was never really a colouring person. I loved the idea of it, but found intricate patterns or designs overwhelming , and would often complete one page of the whole book, never to return to it again.

That was quite enough for me, thank you - I'd much rather be designing clothes for my Bratz dolls, or reading a book . But after seeing so many people take up their childhood hobby on social media, I wanted to give it another go - especially because experts say it can really help you wind down. Separating work and downtime is something I struggle with, so after work, I've started to myself to turn off all my work-related thoughts and to throw myself into colouring a page each evening.



I purchased the Soft Girl Era colouring book from Mary Hart Design Studios because I'd seen it all over social media, and it said the designs were 'simple and relaxing'. Much like my childhood self, I don't want to be bogged down in the tiny little details. The simple designs helped me to focus because I wasn't worrying about colouring out of the lines accidentally.

Although my attention to detail is good, when doing relaxing activities outside work I prefer being able to completely switch off from my thoughts.
