From the National Hurricane Center. Hurricane Debby made landfall in the Florida Big Bend Monday morning as the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season while another tropical wave moves in the Caribbean Sea, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. The hurricane does not pose a current threat to Louisiana.

NHC forecasters say that portions of the southeast U.S. coast, from northeastern Florida to North Carolina, should expect "dangerous" storm surge and wind impacts through the middle of the week.



Portions of Florida's Gulf Coast may experience "life-threatening" storm surge, with six to 10 feet of flooding expected between Ochlocknee River and Yankeetown Monday morning NHC forecasters said. Parts of central and northern Florida and North Carolina will likely experience flooding, as Georgia and the coastal plain of South Carolina brace for possibly historic heavy rainfall and "catastrophic" flooding..
