Big Apple beauties are being blown away by this hunky meteorologist. John Homenuk , the founder of New York Metro Weather , is winning an army of new fans who say he resembles Glen Powell’s sexy storm chaser in the new blockbuster, “Twisters.” Like Powell’s protagonist, Homenuk frequently follows fast-moving tornadoes, getting dangerously close to the eye of the storm.

But the 34-year-old Brooklyn native is not just jumping on a new trend: he’s been reporting the weather for close to two decades. Homenuk says he first became interested in the weather after watching the first “Twister” flick, released way back in the mid-1990s. “I have vivid memories of watching the original ‘Twister’ as a kid.

I couldn’t wait to grow up — to forecast the weather and to chase storms,’ he wrote in a recent Instagram post . “[The new standalone sequel] ‘Twisters’ has reminded me just how lucky I am,” he continued. “Wake up, 8-year-old John.

You are literally living your dream.” The genetically-blessed weatherman first created newyorkmetroweather.blogspot.

com back in high school, insistent that the most populated city in the US needed in-depth updates, come rain or shine. “There wasn’t a New York City weather blog at the time,” he told The Cut in a new profile, in which he is described as “hotter than a heatwave.” “My little high-school self realized that there was an opening for that, and I had a lot to express about the weather.

” Homenuk went on to study meteorology at Kean University and eventually moved his New York Metro Weather updates to Twitter, with followers enjoying both his knowledge and his sassy commentary. “An error has occurred. Weather conditions are immaculate in NYC and you should not be sitting in front of your computer all day.

Please go outside immediately,” a tweet from Jul. 19 reads. “I grew up around an Italian family,” he explained.

“That snarkiness is part of the whole vibe.” The Twitter account first gained a wave of followers after Hurricane Sandy in 2012. “It was an enormously impactful weather event that required me to communicate the weather in a very specific way—to not only effectively communicate and give people what they needed, but also to not panic and to make sure that people trusted me with what I was saying,” he told Town and Country .

Homenuk later gained even more traction (his X account now has 131.4K followers) once he began posting video updates. People’s dew points were saturated when they saw the storm-chasing hunk, who appeared smart, funny, charming and adventurous.

But the meteorologist isn’t only a storm-chasing social media personality. He’s also a businessman. In 2018, he started a successful weather consulting firm, Empire Weather LLC , advising stockbrokers, hedge funds, and farmers on weather patterns.

And despite seeing “Twister” “more times than he can count,” he insists that storm chasing isn’t as dramatic as the movies may make it appear, he told The Cut. The expert tracks patterns to spot when an unusual weather event is brewing. On the day of an expected storm, Homenuk wakes early, works out, eats breakfast and confirms that the storm is on the path before taking off to chase it.

He admitted that only about two out of every ten storms he chases power through and sometimes only lasts a few minutes — but that’s enough for him. But the meteorologist doesn’t just love chasing storms, he also enjoys teaching people about the weather. “People love talking about the weather, they love understanding it.

They’re willing to concede the fact that we’re [predicting] the future and we’re not going to be perfect,” he told Town and Country. Taking his talents and fanbase offline, Homenuk has even begun hosting live events. Last month he partnered with The New York Groove , an independent news publication, to host a ticketed “Vibe Check” to answer questions about climate change and teach participants how to forecast the weather.

“There’s a certain amount of feeling that’s involved in meteorology that I think it needs to be spoken to as well. You feel the weather when you walk outside, you feel the vibe of the day based on what the weather is like,” told Interview Magazine . The “Vibe Check” event sold out.

However, it’s unclear whether people were swept away by Homenuk’s intellect or if they’re just hot for his good looks..
