Pune/Kolhapur: Undeterred by the stiff opposition to his ' Batenge to Katenge ' slogan from Mahayuti's ally NCP and his own party members Ashok Chavan and Pankaja Munde, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said, "Hum kate kyunki hum bate (We suffered setbacks because we were divided)." Campaigning in Bhosari in NCP leader Ajit Pawar's home district of Pune, Yogi said that if the country had not gone through partition in 1947, the 'Muslim issue' in undivided India would have been dealt with the way it is being 'handled' now. On the penultimate day of the campaign for the state poll, Yogi Adityanath held rallies in Pune, Kolhapur, and Karad.

He has been strongly advocating the 'Batenge to Katenge' slogan but Ajit Pawar has objected to it. Yogi said, "Hindus have suffered for not being united. During partition, several Hindus died.

Congress was responsible for the division of our country, but if we had shown unity then, partition would not have happened." He added, "Some ask me how the 'Muslim issue' would have been handled in undivided India. I tell them that it would have been dealt with in a similar manner it has been handled now.

" Criticising the Congress, Yogi said that if the party had not been so desperate to be in govt, partition would not have happened. "After independence, Congress continued to create a divide on the basis of region, language, and caste," he said. Appealing to the Hindu community to unite, Yogi said, "We faced insults in Ayodhya, Kashi and Math.
