Daron Harris demonstrated why he’s one of the most dynamic players in Delaware County during Chester’s 46-6 homecoming victory over Academy Park last Saturday. The junior set two career records, surpassing previous marks in touchdown receptions (21) and interceptions (16). Harris broke former teammate Dom Toy’s receiving record of 19 TDs and topped Jimmy King’s interception record, which had stood for nearly 40 years.
As a versatile weapon in all three facets, Harris has been a force for Chester, which is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A in Pennsylvania, according to the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette. This season, Harris has caught 23 passes for 595 yards and 10 touchdowns, added 173 rushing yards and four scores, and returned four kicks (three kickoffs and one punt) for touchdowns.
Defensively, he’s been a terror for opposing quarterbacks, with five interceptions. Chester, which is heavily favored to win its third consecutive Del Val League title, will aim to take another step toward that goal Saturday at Interboro (2-5). During their four-game winning streak, the Clippers have outscored the opposition, 189-42.
They have won 18 of 22 games since the beginning of the 2023 campaign. Harris is, without question, a major driving force behind Chester’s success over that span. “Just stacking the days in practice, that’s what we have to keep doing,” Harris said after a win over Chichester last month.
