UK SMBs Anticipate a Surge in Domestic Travel and Budgets for 2025, Driven by Sustainability Goals A recent study conducted by Trainline Partner Solutions, the B2B division of Trainline, reveals a significant shift in travel priorities among UK small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The findings indicate that over three-quarters of SMBs are planning to boost domestic travel volumes (76%) and increase their business travel budgets (79%) in 2025, as highlighted by key decision-makers in corporate travel.

The report underscores a robust recovery in business travel for UK SMBs. An impressive 74% of respondents noted higher business travel volumes in 2024 compared to the previous year, signaling a steady upward trend in corporate mobility. With business travel gaining momentum, sustainability has emerged as a core focus for SMBs.



A notable 33% of decision-makers highlighted increased rail usage as a pivotal measure to minimize their companies’ carbon footprints. The commitment to reducing travel emissions has grown significantly, with 87% of UK SMBs now implementing formal targets to lower carbon emissions—a sharp increase from the 52% reported in January 2024. Additionally, 85% of SMBs have developed comprehensive policies and financial frameworks to promote the adoption of greener tr.
