Splitgate is one of the best games that you’ve likely never played, and the good news is it’s getting a sequel. Splitgate 2 was announced last month as a continuation of the first game, but this time with a much larger budget and more features planned for the game. For those that haven’t played Splitgate, it can be best described as Halo meets Portal, featuring fast paced arena shooter combat with a unique mechanic that allows players to create portals to travel between two sections of the map, just like Valve’s iconic Portal series.
This adds a whole new layer of strategy to Splitgate that isn’t present in other games, with it being used as a means of travel, and escape route that can be closed to get you out of harm’s way, or to get a sneaky angle on your opponent and shoot them through the portal. Although it doesn’t have a release date yet, 1047 Games is giving players a chance to play Splitgate 2 as part of its Alpha test, which will be available between Aigust 21-25, here is how to gain access. There are currently two ways to gain access to the Splitgate 2 Alpha.
The first is to head to the Splitgate 2 Steam page and click the Request Access button to register your interest in the Alpha. If you are selected, you will receive a notification in the Steam program and the download will be added to your library. The second way to gain access is to watch Splitgate 2 streams on Twitch for two hours, which will the grant you an Alpha key.
This method guarantees access, but I highly recommend doing both so you will be definitely be able to jump in..
