74 million international tourists visited Cambodia during the first seven months of this year, marking a 23.2% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2023, according to a report released by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday. During the first seven months of 2024, Thailand led the way as the top source of international visitors to Cambodia, contributing 1,147,534 arrivals.



The top ten markets also included Vietnam, China, Laos, the US, South Korea, Indonesia, France, the UK, and Japan, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism. Approximately 1.34 million foreign tourists, representing about 36% of the total, entered Cambodia by air, reflecting a 26.

4% increase from the previous year. The remaining visitors arrived via land borders and waterways, marking a 21.5% rise, according to the report.

Phnom Penh emerged as the most popular destination for international travelers, followed by Siem Reap province and coastal regions. Additionally, Cambodia saw a 5.9% increase in outbound tourism, with 1,069,078 Cambodians traveling abroad.

Thim Sereyvuth, Acting Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Tourism, expressed enthusiasm on August 23 for more tourist arrivals, noting that these visits will support economic growth and local development. Tourism is a crucial component of Cambodia’s economy, alongside garment, footwear, and travel goods exports; agriculture; and the construction and real estate sectors.
