Stuttering (also called stammering) is a neurological condition used to describe a disruption in the timing and flow of speech when someone is talking. There is no single cause for stuttering. It is multi-factorial; neurology and genetics play a part.

It usually begins in childhood from the age of two to five years and about 5pc of primary children will stutter at some stage. Around 1pc of men and women stutter as adults; over 50,000 people in Ireland stutter..
