The latest member of the Boeing 777 family, the 777X, is a long-range, widebody, twin-engine jetliner offered by Boeing to both commercial and private operators. The 777X program was proposed in 2010, followed by the formal launch in November 2013. Powered by brand-new General Electric GE9X engines, the 777X program offers three variants: the 777-8 and 777-9 passenger variants and the 777-8F freighter version.

There are nearly 500 orders for the passenger and freighter versions. The list price of the Boeing 777-8 is approximately $410 million, while the larger 777-9 costs approximately $442 million. A private Boeing 777-9, Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 777-9, costs upwards of $500 million.



It is worth mentioning that airlines generally do not pay the list price of the airplane; they get anywhere between 30% to 50% discount, depending on the number of aircraft ordered and other factors. Boeing 777-8 Passenger The 777-8 offers seating for 395 passengers and an operational range of 8,750 NM, whereas the larger 777-9 offers seating for 426 passengers and a range of 7,350 NM. The aircraft is 232 feet and 6 inches long, a shortened version of the Boeing 777-9, but can fly approximately 1,700 miles further than the stretched 777-9.

The 777-8 will succeed the iconic 777-200LR, offering accessibility between any two points on the planet. According to Boeing , “The new Boeing 777X will be the world’s largest and most efficient twin-engine jet, unmatched in every aspect of performance. .
