Prayagraj: The houses on the way to the Sangam area of the city will be painted in an identical colour. During Kumbh-2019, PDA had similarly designated the buildings along Mahatma Gandhi Marg and Sardar Patel Marg in the Civil Lines area of the city for this unique resemblance of house colours. However, only the edifices bordering Sardar Patel Marg were ultimately painted in vibrant red and black tones.

As soon as the Kumbh festivities concluded, the ambitious plan to paint the structures along MG Marg in a uniform colour was shelved. However, this time, PDA has made alteration to the earlier scheme and selected the roads of Naini, Jhunsi, and Phaphamau that lead to Sangam. Additionally, a route encircling the High Court ias also chosen for this project.



Prior to finalising the roads under this scheme, PDA also conducted meetings with local entrepreneurs and prominent citizens. PDA Vice President, Arvind Chauhan announced that the designated roads will be made public within a day or two. In a concerted effort to make Mahakumbh-25 a plastic-free event, the organisation Om Nam Shivay, renowned for providing free food, will serve prasad, meals, and water in dona, pattal, and kulhar.

This decision has been taken as part of the comprehensive plan to eliminate plastic and polythene from the Mahakumbh . During the Mahakumbh, lakhs of dona, pattal (plate made of leaf), and kulhar will be required daily to serve prasad, food, and water. Hundreds of labourers will be engaged to meet this demand.

To this end, the organisation has established contact with people making pattal and potters. Potters from Banda, Chitrakoot, Bhadohi, Amethi, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, and Fatehpur will also be invited to contribute to the production of dona, pattal, and kulhar.
